Do I need an appointment for my child's vaccinations?: The health department has a walk-in immunization clinic every monday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If a Monday clinic is inconvenient you may call the department at 785-628-9440 and make an appointment to suit your schedule.

1. Do I need an appointment for my child's vaccinations?: The health department has a walk-in immunization clinic every monday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If a Monday clinic is inconvenient you may call the department at 785-628-9440 and make an appointment to suit your schedule.

2. Do I need a pneumonia shot every 5 years?: Usually only one dose of pneumonia vaccine is needed. However, a second dose is recommended for people 65 years and older if they received their first dose before the age of 65 and more then five years have passed since that first dose.

3. Can I use my debit card to pay for shots?: Yes. The health department does accept Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express debit and creedit cards.

4. Will the flu shot give me the flu?: Absolutely not. The flu vaccine does not contain live viruses but viral protein antigens. Such particles cannot give someone the flu. If you get sick with the flu following a flu shot it was likely you were infected with such 7 to 10 days prior.
