Requirements
You may receive a subpoena if you were involved in a case as a victim or witness. If you receive a subpoena, you are required to attend the hearing at the time and date listed on the subpoena to testify.
Check the Status of the Case
Please contact our office the day before you are scheduled to appear to check on the status of the case.
Dress Appropriately
Prior to the court date, please review the
Order Concerning Dress in Courtroom. All witnesses are required to comply with this order.
Arrive 15 Minutes Early
All witnesses are directed to sign in at the clerk of the District Court’s office on the third floor of the Courthouse 15 minutes prior to the hearing.
Scheduling Conflicts
If you have an emergency or prior engagement that falls during the time period of the hearing we ask that you would please contact our office as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that it is ultimately the judge’s decision to decide whether or not you may be excused from the hearing.

If you change your address or telephone number, please contact our office at (785) 628-9405 immediately to update this information. We often need to contact victims and witnesses by phone if there is a change regarding the court hearing.
