The Ellis County High Technology Crime Unit (HTCU) was formed in August 2002 in an effort to combat the increasing reality of cybercrime. The HTCU is comprised of the:

Many different types of crime can be either committed with a computer or by a computer. The HTCU’s calls for service include, but are not limited to:
  • Online auction fraud
  • Stalking
  • Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)
  • Harassment / threatening emails
  • Distribution of Illegal Narcotics
  • Defamation of Character
  • Computer Trespass
  • Identity Theft
